Oliver Pluff & Co. Colonial Tea Collection is a set of five teas from the colonial era: Colonial Bohea, Cacao Shell Tea, Young Hyson, Peppermint and Gunpowder.
Colonial Bohea was the largest tea import of colonial times, a blend that began in China with trade to the British and Dutch East India Companies. Martha Washington drank cacao shell tea, made from roasted shells, at breakfast. Young Hyson is a green tea whose thinly rolled leaves are long and twisted and unfurl when brewed. Peppermint was first classified in 1753 and grew in colonial American gardens. Gunpowder is a lightly roasted, tightly rolled green tea, Temple of Heaven grade pinhead.
