Stonewall Kitchen Dulce De Leche Sauce is a 13 oz dessert sauce made from sweetened condensed milk cooked with caramelised sugar syrup and vanilla.

Dulce de leche is not caramel, though the two get confused. Caramel starts with sugar cooked until it browns; dulce de leche starts with milk and sugar cooked slowly together, which is why it tastes milkier and less burnt, and why the texture is thicker and more spoonable than pourable.

It is eaten across the Caribbean and South America at any time of day. Stonewall Kitchen suggest a spoonful stirred into coffee, warmed and drizzled over sliced bananas, or used as an ingredient in baking — it works particularly well layered into an alfajor or swirled through a cheesecake batter before it goes in the oven.
