Cento Tin Can Tomatoes come in five styles: crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato puree, Italian-style whole peeled plum tomatoes and certified San Marzano whole peeled plum tomatoes.
Grown in the Sarnese Nocerino area of Italy near Mount Vesuvius, the San Marzanos are hand-picked when ripe and certified by an independent third party. The Italian-style whole peeled tomatoes are packed in their own juice with a basil leaf. For pizza sauce, ragu or Sunday gravy, reach for the crushed tomatoes, which are vine-ripened and not from concentrate. Seeded and strained, the puree is smooth and thick, and a spoonful of paste, made from ripe red tomatoes, adds depth to soups and sauces.
